Study Visits

Since 2001 the Greater Yarmouth Tourist Authority – now the Greater Yarmouth Tourism & Business Improvement Area (GYTABIA) have organised an annual study visit to coastal destinations in the UK and in Europe. Meeting up with peers in destinations including Blackpool, Bournemouth, Scarborough, Brighton and Torquay.   Attendees have shared best practices, successes and failures.

All who go on the study visits pay for their trips and take holidays from work in order to attend.

This year the group visited businesses located in the northern parishes of the borough of Great Yarmouth which started with breakfast (courtesy of Premier Inn) and a tour around the newly constructed hotel along south beach.  The group were then taken on the road train kindly supplied by Mr Choo Choo to have a talk and look around the fabulous boating lake and waterways on North Drive, this was followed by a visit to Richardsons in Hemsby to see their amazing new facilities and buildings following a massive investment for their Hemsby holiday park. A quick pit stop for lunch at the Filby Bridge restaurant with the tastiest home made sausage rolls then next on the agenda was a visit to Thrigby Hall which always enthralls and culminated with a superb meal at Moments in Scratby.  The visit was very well received  with many members commenting that they had never thought to visit businesses on their own doorstep and were proud that there was so much on offer within the borough.  A very successful visit with a visit to the southern parishs of the borough being planned early in 2020 has unfortunately been postponed due to Covid-19.  See below for photos of previous study visits.
