A cracker of a festive family fun competition to win a magical Christmas experience in and around Great Yarmouth worth more than £500 is open.
Visit Great Yarmouth’s first Christmas Edition Golden Ticket competition has free tickets to Christmas shows and entry to top visitor attractions up for grabs.
The winner will be able to take up to six people to two family favourite pantomimes at Gorleston Pavilion and St George’s theatres, Thrigby Hall Wildlife Park, The Sea Life Centre and Time and Tide Museum.
The five Visit Great Yarmouth partners donated the prizes as part of Visit Great Yarmouth’s ongoing message: “We’re open for business throughout the winter” encouraging visitors to make the most of what the area has to offer during the festive season.
The winner will be chosen at the end of this month in good time to book tickets for the traditional classic festive panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, at Gorleston Pavilion – which runs for a month from December 4 to January 4 – and a 2025 take on the classic Cinderella at St George’s Theatre, from December 13-30.
Also in the prize package is the chance for a winter encounter with Thrigby Wildlife Park’s new two-year-old Sumatran tiger, Raja, who is awaiting the arrival of his female mate in the new year, and the rest of the animals, birds and reptiles at the wildlife park, which is open every day of the year apart from Christmas Day.
At the Sea Life Centre, families can follow Snowy’s Trail around the Sea Life Centre for a prize and catch up with Noah the green sea turtle’s adventures and follow the history of the area at the atmospheric Time and Tide Museum and its special exhibitions.
Alex Youngs, chair of Visit Great Yarmouth’s marketing group, was joined by Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk (Noah Keeler) and his mother, Dame Trott (Mike Coleman), mice from St George’s Cinderella, and the other partners on the stage at Gorleston’s Pavilion Theatre.
“Enjoying family fun, entertainment and activities for all ages is what Christmas and Great Yarmouth is all about all year round.
“This prize offers so many great reasons to visit our fabulous area this winter and enjoy the incredible experiences and entertainment going on as a family or group of close friends.
“The tickets are an incredible prize for visitors or a family or group who perhaps live locally and might not get the chance to enjoy all that is on their doorstep.
“Winners will see two very different pantomimes – traditional and modern – a one of a kind wildlife park with its rare animals and stunning setting at Thrigby, the wonderful Sea Life Centre with its revamped Aquarium and special Christmas trail and the evocative Time and Tide Museum, where visitors can get lost in the story of Great Yarmouth’s rich and colourful.”
Asa Morrison, CEO of Visit Great Yarmouth, said: “We are an open-all-year-round destination. Our partners work hard to put together as compelling winter offer to support our mission building a packed programme of events in the winter and Christmas holidays.
“Our Golden Ticket competition has been hugely popular in the summer so we are using the same formula for Christmas this year.”
The competition is open for entry until Wednesday November 28.
Prizes must be used before Saturday January 3
