Discover Gorleston Digitally 24/7 as New Webcam Launches

  • Gorleston’s stunning seafront can now be enjoyed digitally 24/7
  • A new webcam is on the front of Gorleston’s Pavilion Theatre to help promote the area as a tourism destination

One of Norfolk’s most stunning seafront views can be enjoyed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with the launch of a new webcam.

It has been placed on the front of the Pavilion Theatre in Gorleston to give a great view of the gardens, bandstand, and beach.

The new camera, which was proposed by Gorleston Pavilion, is being funded by Visit Great Yarmouth and supported by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Anglia Technology, and will give would-be visitors a taste of what they can enjoy on a trip to the town.

It will also give those who love Gorleston the opportunity to see it wherever they are in the world at any time.

People will be able to enjoy real-time footage of the resort on the same website as the Great Yarmouth seafront webcams.

Lyndon Bevan, chair of Visit Great Yarmouth, said:

We know many of our visitors have a great affection for Gorleston and this will give them the chance to see the place where they make holiday memories all year round.

It will also help create even more interest in the area. With more and more visitors using digital resources to help them decide where to go on holiday, this is a great way to enjoy the great views around Gorleston and encourage visitors to experience the area in person.

Alex Youngs, Gorleston Pavilion Theatre Trustee, said:

We’re absolutely thrilled to be finally sharing with the rest of the world the fantas-tic view that we have from the theatre of the gardens, bandstand and beach and I know that so many local residents including those who have moved away but still love the area will welcome this long-awaited project.

It comes at a time when so many of the Gorleston seafront businesses have invest-ed heavily into upgrading and improving their offerings and hopefully this will help to generate a little more interest in the area and bring people in to see what’s on offer for themselves. More than anything else though it’s a celebration of this beautiful part of the world and we’re hugely thankful to both Anglia Technology and the team at Visit Great Yarmouth for their fantastic support.

Simon McGee, of Anglia Technology, said: When Alex first mentioned their requirements for this project, I immediately de-cided we would provide the 4K camera and installation free of charge. Having lived and worked on this beautiful piece of the east coast my whole life (the last 27 years in Gorleston), I thought it was a fantastic idea to promote the area and show others what we see.

Carl Smith, leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, said: We are so pleased to be working with Visit Great Yarmouth and the Pavilion The-atre to showcase Gorleston’s much-loved seafront in this way, and to see this pro-ject come to fruition.  For visitors and residents to be able to see the live stream now up and running on the Visit Great Yarmouth site demonstrates how partner-ship working can bring such successful outcomes for our communities.
