Visit Great Yarmouth’s Big Wednesdays shortlisted for award

Visit Great Yarmouth’s six summer Big Wednesday events of firework spectaculars, dramatic drone light formations and a pyrotechnic plane are finalists in an event of the year award.

Big Wednesdays are among six events shortlisted in the Suffolk and Norfolk Tourism Awards’ Event and Festival of the Year Award 2027.

And people have the chance to make the weekly events and organiser Visit Great Yarmouth a winner  in the awards that recognise the best tourism, hospitality and visitor experiences in the region by taking part in a public vote.

Big Wednesdays delivered six free aerial spectaculars over Great Yarmouth’s famous Golden Mile this summer drawing thousands of people to the seafront each week.

The six weeks culminated in a finale bringing all three acts together for a breathtaking evening of a 400-drone light show, fireworks from the beach and the AeroSparx pyrotechnic plane.

Visit Great Yarmouth CEO Asa Morrison said: “It’s a huge honour to be among the six shortlisted events. Our commitment is to

default

deliver free to attend events to attract visitors to enjoy all Great Yarmouth and the area has to offer for all the family and create accessible and inclusive memorable experiences while they are here.”

Nathan Race, chair of Visit Great Yarmouth, said: “Being shortlisted for Event and Festival of the Year is recognition for everyone involved in making Big Wednesdays

happen.

“Big Wednesdays are about much more than the displays. Our events provide an important boost to Great Yarmouth’s visitor economy. Visitors arriving early and staying later help support the many fantastic businesses along the seafront and across the resort, from attractions, amusement arcades and entertainment venues to restaurants, cafés, takeaways, pubs and accommodation providers.”

“People who enjoyed Big Wednesdays can join the public vote and help bring the award home to Great Yarmouth.”
