Visit Great Yarmouth will plunge more than £420,000 into events, marketing, research, and physical enhancements across 26 newly approved projects to help the economy recover and grow post pandemic, create new jobs, and build on the all-year round offer for holidaymakers.
The funding is part of the overall financial investment from The Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area (GYTABIA), which trades as Visit Great Yarmouth.
The Great Yarmouth Firework summer evenings, which draws in thousands of visitors is set to have some enhancements in 2022 and will receive full funding for the next three years. It will be delivered in partnership with Out There Arts.
Hemsby Summer Fireworks, Great Yarmouth Bowls Festival, Great Yarmouth Wheels, The Out There Festival and the Fire on Water installation at the Venetian Waterways have also attracted the same three year commitment.
The Big Mini Golf Tournament, which will take place at a number of the town’s mini golf courses, will be fully funded for 2022, alongside Gorleston Switch On.
Other cash has been allocated to this year’s Caister Carnival Funday, Great Yarmouth Arts Festival, East Coast Pirates Car Club, Toffs and Hoggs Car Show, Comic Con Mini, 4Bs Family Funday in Burgh Castle and Gorleston Cliff Top Fireworks.
There has also been investment in the facilities, maintenance, and access projects across the borough with the projects listed below :

Decorative lighting and Great Yarmouth CCTV will continue to be supported.
Marketing investment will help build upon the £4m worth of media coverage created in 2021 and continuing to develop the destination’s 12-month offer.
Lyndon Bevan, Chair of Visit Great Yarmouth said: “We are confident that with this substantial investment we have a rich tapestry of events planned to attract people of all ages and interests, who will want to return as soon as they leave.
We have also retained a small amount of funding to add in some potential new events for 2022, and we have future funding in the pipeline to enhance events, support some extra projects and undertake marketing in future years, so the calendar will remain jam packed across the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 seasons.”
Asa Morrison, Executive Director of Visit Great Yarmouth, said “Some funding would be used towards research to understand business and visitor needs and ensure the team are meeting visitor expectations.
It was really important for us to re-set and look to the future in this changing world, so we are making sure we examine all aspects of our tourism offer. We are doing all we can to help the economy recover and grow, to preserve existing jobs and to create new opportunities.
We already have a developing all-year round offer in place, but we need to keep building upon that commitment to support our businesses and attractions and ensure we give our holidaymakers the experience they deserve while visiting our area all year round.”
