Great Yarmouth Open for Business after Blaze

NEWS RELEASE
Great Yarmouth open for business after blaze
Great Yarmouth’s holiday and tourism industry united today to send a message to holidaymakers and visitors planning to head to the resort: We’re open as normal.
Businesses and attractions along the Golden Mile and across the town centre are all working as usual today after a major fire in the early hours destroyed a bowling centre and indoor market on Regent Road.
Visitors planning to head to the resort were reassured their visits and enjoyment across the resort would not be affected by the blaze at Regent Superbowl and the indoor market underneath.

Movie star ship to sail into maritime festival
An historic ship that doubles as movie and TV star will be centre stage at Great Yarmouth’s Maritime Festival this year.
The 1940s sailing ship Earl of Pembroke has figured in more than a dozen films and TV series since it was restored in 1994.
They include the movie Cloud Atlas – starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant – as well as
roles in Hornblower, Treasure Island, Alice in Wonderland, Wives and Daughters, and the Count of Monte Cristo.
She will be moored at Great Yarmouth for the two-day festival on September 10th and 11th, which regularly attracts about 30,000 visitors to the port.

Since 2001 the Greater Yarmouth Tourist Authority have organised an annual study visit to coastal destinations in the UK and in Europe. Meeting up with peers in destinations including Blackpool, Bournemouth, Scarborough, Ostend, Le Touquet, Scheveningen and Biarritz attendees have shared best practices, successes and failures. All who go on the study visits pay for their trips and take holidays from work in order to attend.
A visit to Weston-Super-Mare in 2016 will be taking place on 11th/12th/13th October. Further details and booking forms are below for you to download.  I look forward to receiving applications from businesses from all over the borough.

Park & Save

The GYTABIA have devised a scheme to help drive customers to your business and offset the borough council’s car park charges for visitors and locals alike  (See All downloads at bottom of page)
Click here to link to the Park & Save page on the main Greater Yarmouth website listing all the current participating businesses in the scheme.
To explain it simply;  in each borough council car park (excluding Great Yarmouth town centre and Marina Centre) the car park ticket dispensing machine will issue an extra voucher alongside the usual car park ticket this can then be used in participating businesses i.e. restaurants/attractions/shops/services to redeem against some form of discount or offer (the offer is entirely the individual businesses decision).
