Great Yarmouth Borough Council has received funding to support small businesses in the hospitality and food service sectors of the tourism economy but only where they have incurred additional expense in adapting their business in order to reopen safely and in line with the Government’s coronavirus requirements.  Please click the link below for further information and eligibility.  We would be grateful if you could pass this information onto any business who you think may qualify for the grant.

The Chancellor has provided some new support for business as he delivered his Summer Economic Update in Parliament today (8th July), which outlined a package of measures to support jobs in every part of the country, give businesses the confidence to retain and hire, and provide people with the tools they need to get better jobs.
Key points to note:

Job Retention Bonus:To help firms keep on furloughed workers, UK Employers will receive a one-off bonus of £1,000 for each furloughed employee who is still employed as of 31 January 2021.
Kickstart Scheme: A new £2 billion scheme will also be launched to create hundreds of thousands of new,

VisitEngland have launched the new accredited ‘We’re Good to Go’ scheme which is a free UK-wide industry standard and consumer mark to reassure your customers that your business adheres to Government and public health guidance.

Every year the BID company holds a new year launch to celebrate the finalising of the marketing options for the coming year and to celebrate the achievements of the previous year and the year yet to come.  In previous years the event was known as the brochure launch however with more and more business being conducted via the internet there has been less requirement for reliance on a brochure.  This year the 2020 year launch event was held at the Wellington Bowl and was kindly sponsored by The Threadwell family. The details of all the projects that the board agreed to fund was announced followed by a very lively and competitive game of bowls with prizes for the winning team and a prize for the highest individual score won by Philip Grey.
